We Clean All Types of Upholstery — Whatever It’s Made Of

We assess every piece individually before we start, because the right technique for a microfiber sectional is very different from the right technique for a silk accent chair or a leather sofa. Whether you need a routine refresh or a deep clean after years of heavy use, we have the process and the training to do it safely.

Your Vacuum Only Gets the Surface. Here’s What It Leaves Behind.

Every time someone sits on your sofa, they leave behind skin oils, body heat, and microscopic debris. Pets add dander, odors, and accident residue that soaks deep into cushion fibers. Over time, all of it builds up in layers that vacuuming simply can’t reach.

Most people don’t notice it gradually — until a guest sits down, or the room has a smell they can’t locate, or a stain reappears after they thought they’d cleaned it up.

Store-bought sprays can make things worse. The wrong product on the wrong fabric can set a stain permanently, bleach the color, or leave a sticky residue that attracts dirt faster than before.

Professional cleaning reaches what’s actually embedded in the fibers — using hot-water extraction or a low-moisture system depending on the fabric. Either way, it removes the residue and leaves no soapy buildup behind. The result isn’t just cleaner — it’s healthier air, less odor, and furniture that lasts longer.

Fine Fabric Care — When the Stakes Are Higher

Some pieces can’t be treated like everyday furniture. A custom-upholstered sofa, a silk accent chair, a vintage heirloom — these fabrics react unpredictably to heat, moisture, and standard cleaning agents. One wrong move can mean permanent damage.

Lovejoy Carpet Care holds specialty certifications specifically for fine fabric and upholstery work. We don’t just clean furniture — we study it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does upholstery cleaning take to dry?
Drying time depends on the cleaning method and your specific fabric. Hot-water extraction typically takes 2–4 hours; low-moisture methods can dry significantly faster. We’ll let you know what to expect before we leave.
Is hot-water extraction safe for all fabrics?
Not for every fabric — which is why we pre-test every piece before we start. For fabrics that aren’t compatible with hot-water extraction (such as certain silks, viscose, or delicate weaves), we use alternative dry or low-moisture methods appropriate for that material.
What does fabric protection do — and how long does it last?
Most protectors coat the surface of the fiber and wear off over time. Microseal is a penetrating protector — it bonds with the fiber itself, so spills bead up and wipe away instead of soaking in. It lasts for many years with normal use and won’t break down between cleanings the way store-bought sprays do.
Can you get rid of pet odor, not just the stain?
Yes — and it requires more than standard cleaning. Pet urine in particular bonds with fabric fibers at a molecular level. We treat odors at the source, not just the surface. Ask us about odor treatment options when you call for your estimate.
How often should upholstery be professionally cleaned?
For everyday furniture with regular use, once every 12–18 months is a common recommendation. Homes with pets, children, or allergy sufferers often benefit from annual cleaning. Fine or lightly used pieces may only need attention every 2–3 years — we’re happy to advise based on what we see.
Do you clean leather?
Yes. Leather requires a different approach than fabric — we clean and condition it to restore its appearance and prevent cracking. If you have questions about a specific piece, give us a call before booking.
